Introduction

 International World So Kyokushin Sri Lanka Branch has several dojos throughout Sri Lanka .It is headed by Shihan Chandana Jayakody . The World So Kyokushin Sri Lanka Branch headquarters is located in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka.

               Shihan Chandana Jayakody is a 4th Dan Black Belt holder with over thirty years of martial arts experience. In addition to serving as a leader of World So Kyokushin Sri Lanka branch and carrying a full load of teaching responsibilities, he also conducts tournaments annually in memorable of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama as well as in order to establish and promote Kyokushin Karate in Sri Lanka .In 2008 Sensei Takeshi Miyagi from Okinawa and Shihan Jiyuu Shibata from Shizuoka ken arrived in Sri Lanka for the 5th Sosai Oyama Memorial Open Championship. And also in 2011 Sensei Kanou, Shihan Jiyuu Shibata and Sensei Naoto Tachibana arrived in Sri Lanka for the 8th Sosai Oyama Memorial Open Championship. Both the tournaments were a great success and Japan Headquarters announced that those tournaments was the best of the other tournaments held in South Asia  in those years.

                While in active competition, Shihan Chandana Jayakody successfully completed the 20-Man Kumite (free fighting), facing twenty consecutive Black Belt opponents in full-contact bouts, twice in Tokyo Honbu Japan Headquarters in front of Sosai Masutatsu Oyama, once in 1993 for 1st Dan and in 1994 for 2nd dan grading tests where he was able to receive a great Honor from Sosai.He received the 3rd and 4th dan black belts from Shihan Daigo Oishi in the year 2006 and 2010 respectively. He was one of the two Sri Lankans who received the Last Dan Certificates from Sosai Oyama. He has shown the power of his karate in inspiring demonstrations, by doing Tamashiwari of Ice cubes.

                 He was able to participate the 4th All Asia Karate Open Championship Tournament in Hokkaido, Japan in the year 1990.And also he was able to participate the 4th Kyokushin Karate Tournament ( World Tournament Selection Tournament ) in the year 1991 in Colombo, Sri Lanka  and was able to win the 4th place in it. He also participated the 38th All Japan Kyokushin Championship in the year 2006 in Shizuoka ken, Japan.

                In the year 2009 his student was able to win the 2nd place of the Junior Championship of the 1st World Karate Open tournament which was held in Osaka, Japan, proving his effort made in order improve and develop Kyokushin Karate in Sri Lanka.

                He successfully completed the 5th Dan grading test in April, 2015.

                At moment he is teaching Kyokushin Karate in Shihan Chandana Jayakody Dojo as well as he also conducts special training programmes of health and fitness.
